Spike Town Coaches Appreciation with Nike

At Runners Plus, we believe the heartbeat of our local running community starts with coaches. That’s why we were honored to host a special Spike Town Coaches Appreciation Night last week, proudly sponsored by Nike.

It was an evening filled with great food, drinks, meaningful conversation, and connection. We loved catching up with local track and field coaches from across our area — hearing about your teams, your goals for the season, and the incredible work you’re doing to develop the next generation of student athletes and runners.

Special Virtual Session with Chris Bennett 

A highlight of the evening was an impactful virtual session with Chris Bennett, Global Head Coach of Nike Running.

Coach Bennett shared insight on coaching philosophy, athlete development, and the importance of keeping joy at the center of the sport. His perspective was both practical and inspiring — reminding us that great coaching isn’t just about splits and race plans. It’s about belief. It’s about creating environments where athletes feel seen, supported, and excited to grow.

We’re grateful for the time and energy he poured into our local coaching community and for the wisdom he shared.

We also enjoyed a demo of the LightSpeed Lift treadmill enhancement — an anti-gravity training system designed to help rehabilitate injured runners while maintaining fitness. By reducing bodyweight load, athletes can run with proper mechanics at a fraction of normal impact, allowing a safe return to running without over-stressing healing tissues.

It’s also a valuable tool for gradually rebuilding mileage, refining form, and preventing future injury. Huge thanks to the team at Tiger Joe's for coming out and showing us these innovative options to help develop and protect our local athletes!
